I was a studio art major at Kent State University long before I started taking pictures. When I work with the camera, I bring the same fine art sensibilities I was taught in drawing and painting to my photographs: light, shadow, color palette, composition, and a sense of space.

Art school is even more of an influence when I edit. Black & whites are informed by drawing with charcoal and graphite, and color shots often become like paintings to me. In the end, I try to show what I see the way that I, myself, see it. And hopefully I am able to convey that to you. – RSH
